 | 02:36 pm - Fun with Craigslist I'm bored waiting for stuff to compile, so it's time for...fun with Craigslist!
'86 Mercury Topaz, Great City Car! - $500
No, it's not a great city car. It's a Topaz. It's not a great anything.
Porsche - $300
Description says Not sure what year or type, Tittled in WA but tittle is in Montana, many have tried but no one could ever get it running, not stolen but best for parts 300 for whole car with bill of sale. Good scca car possibly drift?
OK, I can help out here. It's a Porsche 924. I know this partly because I know the body shape, but the fact that it says "924" on the side is also a big hint. I'm less sure what the Chevy logo on the hood is all about. I also don't know what year, but I bet the "tittle" would tell you.
$300 is probably about right for a non-running example of Porsche's second-ugliest car...
87 volkswagen jetta - $500
Unremarkable, except it's the best example of drive-by car photography I've seen in a while:
I mean, really, they couldn't be bothered to wait until daylight?
1979 fiat x1/9 - $300
No description, just a phone number. But if someone knows what it is I guess they probably know the amount of pain they're getting into for $300.
1988 Mazda B2200 Convertible - $2000
OK, this is about 80% of a good idea. The good part: convertible pickup truck. The other 20%: Those window frames:

So, what would you call the most ugly Porsche? My money would be on the 944. I was actually doing this today, too. Only in the local photo section. But today, nestled among the Instimatics and optimistically priced 35mm SLRs, there was a real winner. "... 2 Muslim backdrops with bags. One is Black the other is White, purchased less then 2 years ago ..." Perfect for all your orientalist needs! Said would be so proud. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/89455885/1137227) | | From: | orv |

I realize this is a controversial thing to say, but I think their ugliest car was the 914. It just looks awkward to me. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/2569236/486650) | | From: | c_eagle |

The Topaz, Fiat, and Jetta would be fun to set up on small truck or Jeep frames and make rat rods out of. The Porsche might make an interesting steampunk car-again, it might be better to set it up on another frame(like an old S-10 or some such). They're cheap enough to experiment with. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/71482476/1137227) | | From: | orv |

The most awesome version of that I've ever seen was a Mercedes 300TD wagon body on a lifted Toyota 4WD pickup chassis. It was really well done, and just so awesomely wrong.

Things I have seen converted to 4WD/set up on truck frames- several Camaros of varying ages,a Ford Granada, a Cadillac with an aircraft engine, the classic White Trash Ferrari(Firebird/Trans Am),several Mustangs, and a "short bus" style school bus, among others. The most wrong one I can remember is a Gremlin set up so high it had a ladder that folded out from under the seat. That was a popular thing to do in the eastern part of the state a decade or so ago,but I haven't seen any recently. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/89455885/1137227) | | From: | orv |

I've seen a lot of them, especially in Michigan, where there was a surplus of Toyota truck chassis with rotted-out bodies. But I've seen very few that are really done well. What stood out for me about the Mercedes one I saw was that there was a lot of attention to detail; it looked like it was supposed to be that way. No bumper mounts sticking out, no wheels that didn't fit under the fenders, nothing like that. This is rare for such projects, in my experience.
Maybe the Jetta owner has something to hide, like a missing hood. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/39586559/423784) | | From: | archai |

Hey! That X1/9 falls right between what I paid for my 850 Spider ($200) and the 903 motor I bought for it ($350). And, uh, reputedly is more trouble than both combined. |
